The new Covestro Headquarters is located inside the Production Hub of Filago (BG) which covers an area of about 700,000 square meters. The project involved the redevelopment of the existing Building 2101 and its expansion with the construction of a new office building on two levels. The ambitious goal of the project was to be able to integrate the typical technical and functional component of a production site with the typical representation and communication component of a headquarters in order to create a representative architecture in a context where it dominates the ‘functionality’. The new building is connected to the existing one by two fundamental elements: the glass gallery and the garden between the symbolic buildings called “cardo” and “decumano”, which mark the general planivolumetric system.
